Seven Delights Of Selling T-Shirts Online: The Pleasures Of Starting A Print-On-Demand T-Shirt Shop
Some businesses are downright enjoyable, especially if you don't have to put much money on the line. For sheer delight, I'm not sure anything can beat a print-on-demand (POD) T-shirt shop. At a POD web site, you put up your designs in an online "store" of your own, and when someone chooses one of them to have printed on a T-shirt, you get a markup over the printing cost. Your online T-shirt store offers many delights when it is new:
The first delight is getting an e-mail from the POD site when you've made a sale. You put up your first design and wait, and wait... The very first e-mail arriving unexpectedly in your in-box has a special thrill. And even though the subsequent ones can never match the first, getting a couple of e-mails can make a bad day feel whole lot more cheerful.
The second delight is feeling a connection to the people who have bought your designs. You go to your account at the POD site and you see a list of transactions. You look at people's names in the state they live in and you wonder how they chose your design and what it means to them. But you won't know, you'll probably never know. Still, you feel close.
The third delight is receiving a check from the POD company. You set your options so that they'll send you a check every time your earnings are at least $25. When the first check comes in the mail, you go out and blow it all celebrating.
The fourth delight is encountering someone who is wearing one of your designs. The first time I saw a woman wearing one of my designs, we were in the same restaurant. I couldn't keep from glancing back at it again and again, beaming.
The fifth delight is telling people that you are a web entrepreneur and saying, "Guess how much it's costing me." You tell them, "Nada." You've supplied the computer, the Internet connection, and the time, so that's free. It doesn't cost you a thing to set up your shop at a POD site. Actually though, it helps if you start your shop already knowing how to -- tee shirt start-ups can be frustrating if you are feeling your way around in the dark -- so you spend a few dollars here and there on books to make your life easier, so you may be honest and just say, "pocket change."
The sixth delight is picking up a blend of new skills. You have to combine right and left brain activities. You need to use an image editor and reflect on how the design looks. You need to find keywords so you'll know what people are looking for. You need to write advertising and promotional pieces, stretching both your prose and your empathy. It's an added benefit that these are all marketable skills.
The seventh delight is actually accomplishing something. While between gigs -- as I frequently am -- searching for opportunities online, it's all too easy to get bummed out, to start feeling hopeless and worthless, and to start getting really good at Freecell. At those times it's satisfying to create a new design and put it online -- proving those bummed-out feelings are wrong.
These are seven of the delights of opening an online, print-on-demand T-shirt shop.

Online T-shirt stores: is it really "zero cost" selling T-shirts on the web?
Selling your T-shirt designs on the web is a business with a very low barrier to entry. If it is not "zero cost," it comes very close.
Assuming you already have a home computer, an Internet connection, and time, you can set up a Web T-shirt shop at no extra expense. You can count that as "zero cost." Let's see how that works.
You can set up an account at a print on demand T-shirt website for free. When you have your account, you can set up "stores" at that site. The stores are free at Printfection and Zazzle. An equivalent, "premium" store at CafePress costs about $60 a year, pretty much pocket change, a month's coffee money.
To create your designs, you need an image editor. The GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) is available free and has as much power as you would ever need.
You need to learn how to use your image editor. A powerful enough image editor -- powerful enough for you to grow with -- is complex enough so that you might get lost in its intricacies when you're just starting out. At this point you may find it worthwhile to pay for a book on how to use it, another couple of weeks' coffee money.
You don't need to be artistic -- some text-only designs sell well. You don't need to be clever with words -- some false, blunt, unwitty slogans sell. You need only express the feelings and attitudes of your customers.
You need to attract people to your Web T-shirt shop. You need to know what keywords they are searching for and how many pages are competing to attract them with those keywords. You want the most people searching and the fewest pages competing. This information is available free through Google's keyword tool and the Google search page. At WordTracker, you can pay $60 per month to save time and effort, or $27.50 per month if you buy their service by the year.
You'll want to advertise your site, but you had better be careful. The markup on any T-shirt, the amount you get when one is sold, is in the $1-$3 range, and most customers buy only one. You cannot afford to pay very much for any customer you attract your site. Fortunately there are places to advertise for free on the Web.
What you most want though, is for your site to end up on page one of the search engine results for the search terms your customers are using. For that you need quality back links, that is links pointing to your website from other quality websites. The best way to get these quality back links is to give away useful information with links back to your shop attached. There are several ways that you can give away information on the net: blogs, forums, ezines, web pages...
None of these things costs much. You can do it all for free, if you know how to. Tee shirt shops require mostly time and knowing what to do.

Affiliate Marketing Mistakes That Cost You Money
Affiliate Marketing is one of the simplest ways to earn money on the Internet. With this type of internet marketing, your main task is to get traffic to the affiliate website, and earn a commission on sales of the product or service. Affiliate marketing is also a great way for the newbie to try his hand at online selling, and also an excellent business model for individuals wanting the benefits of having their own business without the hassles of establishing their own internet business. While some marketers make good money with affiliate programs, many fail to realize the full potential of affiliate marketing because of crucial blunders they commit along the way. This article points out several common mistakes made by affiliate marketers, and offers ways to improve your results.
1. Building Someone Else's List...Instead of Your Own
One of the most common mantra's you'll hear chanted by the Internet Marketing Guru's is that "the money is in the list". Most will even go so far as to say that the most important factor in building long term success is having a motivated list of buyers. Unfortunately, one of the biggest mistakes that many marketers make is building someone else's list instead of their own. With many affiliate programs, the affiliate marketer makes a one time commission on a sale, but the operator of the affiliate program keeps the contact information, and therefore has the opportunity to sell this person on 'backend' products and services. A simple way to get around this is for you to setup a 'squeeze' or 'lead capture page' which enables you to obtain that person's contact information before sending them to an affiliate website. Having a huge list of prospects that you can send your offers to is like money in the bank. Always remember, the money is in the list!
2. Failing to Track Your Links
Another common mistake that many affiliate marketers make is not using link tracking software to track where your hits and sales are coming from. You need to know where your sales are originating from so that you can target your advertising to the places that are producing results and profit. Advertising without tracking reminds me of the line used by Yogi Berra, "if you don't know where you're going, when you get there you'll be lost". Ad tracking software is inexpensive and is a must for the serious affiliate marketer. Use it with all your advertising.
3. Not Following Up With Contacts
While building a list of contacts is one of the keys to increased profit and long term success, it will all be for naught if you fail to follow-up with your prospects. It's hard to understand why some affiliate marketers will spend time, effort and money getting people to a website only to drop them like a red headed stepchild once they have made the sale. Most experienced marketers will tell you that the hardest sale is the first one, and the real profit comes from backend sales. The caveat to this however is that in order to achieve this you need to build trust and confidence with your prospects, and you accomplish this by communicating with them on a regular basis. Some simple ways to do this is by sending out a newsletter, offering free reports, and providing other valuable information that will remind your prospects that you are there to help and are a person they can call on.
4. Sending Multiple Offers in Your Emails
Another common mistake that many affiliate marketers make is including numerous offers in the same email. When a prospect responds to one of your ads, they are interested in receiving information on that specific product or service. Including numerous links and offers in an email only confuses your prospect and greatly decreases your chances of making a sale. More is not always better when it comes to email marketing. Remember to keep your emails focused on the product or service that your prospect is requesting information about.
5. Promoting Too Many Affiliate Programs
Along with trying to pitch several offers in the same email, many affiliate marketers fall prey to promoting numerous affiliate programs at the same time. As with most things in life, focus is the key to success with affiliate marketing. Jumping from one program to another will only lead to frustration and most likely failure. Don't allow yourself to fall for the better mousetrap theory. There will always be the next great affiliate product waiting in your email mailbox. You need to realize that your success with affiliate marketing has more to do with you and your efforts, than choosing the perfect affiliate product or program.

How To Stay Motivated When Working At Home
Anyone who works at home knows that there are times - many times - when you just don't feel like working. Or, maybe things are going on in your life or in your home that are distracting you from doing your work. Regardless, you need to create a structure to your work at home life that eliminates interruptions, temptations, and frustrations, and lets you get on with making a real living.
Lack of motivation is one of the major reasons why "work at home" businesses fail. The effect of waking up in the morning and walking directly from the bed to the desk is enough to make anyone unmotivated. By creating a more work-like structure, you can regain your motivation and earn more money.
First things first - if you had a real job, would you work in your pajamas? No! So, when you get up in the morning, take a shower and put on some REAL clothes. By creating a feeling of work, you will work harder and more efficiently. You will take your "job" more seriously. Have a cup of coffee, sit down to your desk, and get working.
Make sure everyone in your home knows when "work time" is and that they are not to interrupt you, except for an emergency. People must learn to respect that when you are working you are not available to them. Set deadlines for yourself. If you have a project due at the end of the day, have deadlines established throughout the day that represent where you want to be in the project at a specific time. One of the best tools for setting deadlines is an egg-timer. By racing against the clock, you will work faster and more efficiently. There are numerous electronic egg-timers that you can put on your computer that can help you keep on task.
Money is a great motivator. If you think of how much you are making and what you can do with that money, the more motivated you will become. If you are saving to buy a home, get a picture of a house you like and load it as your computer wallpaper, or put it on your desk for a constant reminder.
If you are saving for your child's college fund, put a picture of your kid in front of you and draw a little graduation cap on him or her. This will remind you that the work you are doing is worthwhile and that motivation is necessary to achieve your goals.

Quick And Easy Ways To Work From Home Online
In this article we want to talk about ways you can make money from home using the Internet to do it. Some of these are both quick and easy ways to work from home online, and can be started for free or nearly free.
1. You can make money taking surveys or doing data entry. This is a legitimate work although it takes time to develop a list of companies to do work for.
Some people prefer to buy a list, and if you choose to do that you will want to work with reputable companies only. This will involve taking time and doing some research online before making any moves.
2. Email marketing is a popular way to work from home online and it is very easy as well. The quickest way to build a mailing list is to send out offers and to purchase co-registration leads.
There are companies that will build your mailing list for you and let you concentrate on doing the marketing. To successfully market to an e-mail list you need to build relationships before you try and sell any products.
3. Affiliate marketing is a great way to get started working from home online because you do not need a product of your own. You can join affiliate marketing programs for free and they will provide the products and support you need to make money.
As an affiliate marketer you will receive websites, products, marketing materials, and pretty much everything you need to succeed. Your job will be to learn how to market the products you represent and you earn a commission when you make a sale.
4. Promoting affiliate marketing products via pay per click advertising is a quick and easy way to work from home online. You will need to master PPC advertising skills, but once you get the hang of this you can set this up as a hands-off business.
There are people that earn 6 and 7 figure incomes per year using this form of promotion online. They do this without any product or website of their own and spend less than a couple hours a day actually overseeing their business once it is set up. It just doesn't get any quicker or easier than this.
You will need to set your own goals for the income level you wish to achieve when you work from home online. Whether you want to make a few hundred dollars a month, or develop a full-time income it certainly is possible to do it thanks to the Internet today.

Recipe for Success
It may sound strange to say that one of the things that can get you into trouble really quickly is success. After all, that is what you are trying to accomplish, right?
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), some companies become more successful than they ever imagined and find themselves in trouble.
One commercial that illustrates this point rather well shows a group of very young people surrounding a computer. They click and turn on their website which is selling their product. They start cheering as the counter starts clicking away with all the orders. Suddenly they stop cheering as the counter starts going even faster and they start looking at each other when they realize that they are selling at a faster pace than they ever imagined. Suddenly they have to worry about whether they have the capacity to fill all those orders, do all the shipping. Suddenly they are in a bit of trouble.
When you were doing your business plan (you did do a business plan didn't you???), did you make some contingencies for the greatest success you could ever imagine? How long would it take you to gear up to meet the demand? Do your systems have extra capacity? Can you control how fast things go (i.e., would your server temporarily shut down if traffic reached a certain level or would the entire thing collapse under the stress)? Do you have a way to reach people to let them know that you are experiencing higher demand than you anticipated and what you are doing to try to remedy the situation? We all start a business to be successful, but a lack of planning can do a great deal of damage to your businesses reputation before you even really get started if things get out of hand too quickly.
Try to test things out before you go live. If you are working through a website, turn it on for a short time and see what happens. If you are expecting 20 hits in six hours and get 200, you may need to rethink your preparations. Ask as many people you can about your product and see what they think. Gather as much information as you can before you go live and be as prepared as time and your budget allow. You don't want to go overboard, but generally it is easier to scale back than to gear up.
Be ready for the best and go for it! You don't want your own systems and lack of planning to slow you down!

MLM Network Marketing Training--How to Develop a 90 Day Marketing Plan of Action
As a MLM network marketing trainer and consultant, I know the importance of incorporating a 90 day marketing plan of action into a business, especially multi-level programs.
In order to attain immediate momentum in your new business, this step is the most important of them all. So how is this marketing plan developed, and what pillars of marketing are necessary for ultimate success?
Strength vs. Weakness
The first components to consider with a 90 day marketing plan are your strengths and weaknesses in marketing. Are you an intermediate online marketer, a beginner, or advanced? Are you a good writer? Do you feel shy being on video? Are you a good speaker? These are great questions to ask yourself before outlining a plan of action. I have personally found my strengths to be in three major areas of marketing. These include article marketing, blogging, and video marketing. The key is to have at least 3-5 pillars of marketing circulating on a daily basis. Being a mlm network marketing training coach, I always emphasize the beauty of marketing pillars.
Get Sound Advice
Now that you have recognized your strengths and weaknesses, you are now ready to move forward in your 90 day marketing plan, but wait, you need sound advice from a professional who's had the chance to implement the marketing plan thoroughly, especially if this is your first time. In the mlm network marketing business, good sound advice comes every once in a while from a few good leaders. Find a coach, mentor, or guide that will walk you through the training you need to succeed in your business. Having all the right answers in the beginning will make life a lot easier once you begin to move forward.
Implement the 90 Day Marketing Plan
Now that you've done your homework in identifying your strength and weakness, you've received sound advice from an elite mlm network marketing trainer, you are now ready to implement the plan of action. After 90 days, simply start the plan over again for another 90 days. Do this over and over and over time, it will become a no-brainer and your mlm business will soon soar. A typical marketing plan looks like this:
Day 1-- Blogging/Social Bookmark/Article Marketing
Day 2- Video Marketing/Podcast/Social Bookmark
Day 3- Newspaper Advertising/Postcard Marketing
Day 4--Facebook & Myspace Prospecting
Day 5--Regroup/Rest
Repeat...
Starting a mlm network marketing business can be a real pain if a 90 day marketing plan of action is not in the mix. I make sure all my clients understand the importance of this technique. Cash flow and leads are what keep a multi-level marketing company in business, and without them, the business is soon to fold. Implementing the tips above will help move your business forward in style.

Make Internet Income Through Affiliate Programs
Whether you are just starting out with your Internet business or are an old hand at home-based business, you might find a gold mine in affiliate programs.
Becoming an affiliate, at its most basic level, is simply marketing someone else's product or program in exchange for a fee. The company will give you a link to use on your website or perhaps set you up with your own website. When a prospect clicks through and purchases the product or service, you get a commission.
The beauty of these associations is that they often cost you nothing and your only expense is the time and effort you expend to market the product. Affiliate programs are a win-win situation. The company wins because they have hundreds or thousands of home-based entrepreneurs marketing for them and you win because for a moderate amount of effort, you can make multiple streams of steady income.
Affiliate programs have blossomed out of the need for companies to efficiently leverage their marketing dollars and they found that paying commissions on sales to affiliates is cheaper than using traditional (off-line) marketing methods.
As an affiliate, your job is to drive sales to the company by driving traffic to your own site. The company's job is to pay you for your success. You can get paid in various ways including pay per click. Every time a prospect visits your website and clicks on the company's link, you are paid. You might get paid on a pay per lead basis which pays you if the prospect clicks through to the company website and signs up for something, like a free newsletter. You have created a hot lead for the company. And, you might get paid for facilitating a straightforward sale for the company.
In making the decision to become an affiliate, you should check each company out to make sure that you would feel comfortable representing them. First do a web search for affiliate programs (be warned there are thousands of them out there). Once you have chosen a few interesting companies, look at their products......would you buy them and use them? Find out what others are saying about the company. If there is a firestorm of bad feedback, you should stay away. Another thing you will want to do is explore their compensation plans. How much and how often will you be paid for sales? If the program is multi-level, can you explain it to those you sponsor? If a product is offered, is it marketable or would only a very few people be interested?
If you have a solid marketing program in place that drives lots of prospects to your website, you can make a great deal of money representing companies as an affiliate. It is the ideal low-cost Internet business for the part-time or full-time entrepreneur.
You don't have to be a marketing guru to make money. There are ordinary folks making hundreds or thousands of dollars every month as an affiliate for one or several companies. All it takes is researching the right companies and dedication to building a highly trafficked website.

How To Easily Make More Affiliate Sales Using Audio
Making sales of any products is no more difficult than helping people conclude that what you have to offer is the ideal solution to a nagging, painful problem that they have.
One very effective method that I use to do this is to discuss the product with the person who knows it best - the product owners. You can do the same.
You merely need to arrange an interview with the product owner and record it. You can do this using any of dozens of free teleconferencing services, using a recording device hooked up to your phone, or as I often do, using Audio Acrobat at: http://williec.audioacrobat.com
I like audio acrobat because, 2-3 minutes after you hang up the phone, you have an MP3 ready to download or stream from their server. For $20 per month, you get unlimited bandwidth and can do as many calls as you like. Lots of leading marketers use Audio Acrobat. You can check out the features at the url above and even try out the system for free for 30 days :-)
Most companies offering free conference call lines charge you extra for the recording or for replays!
During the interview, focus on the problem that the product solves. People need to be made painfully aware of a problem, and that it's not going to get any better unless they do something about it.
Only after you discuss the seriousness of the problem, do you discuss the solution. At this point, don't be afraid to discuss more than one solution (assuming that your solution is superior).
Next, you tell your listeners precisely how to get the product - via your affiliate link. Ideally, during an audio interview, you have a link handy that's easy for your listeners to type into their browsers, or even remember if they happen to be listening to your audio in their cars.
One of the challenges that you'll face using audio interviews is that even when you point out a solution to people, they will often do nothing. Many will listen to your interview, conclude that the product is ideal for them, and then NOT click through to check out the product. People just procrastinate on taking even simple actions.
An easy solution to that problem is to redirect your listeners to a webpage that you want them to see at the end of your audio.
Use a program like Audio Redirector to AUTOMATICALLY send your pre-sold listeners right to your sales page or order form.
By automatically redirecting them to your sales page after telling them of an obvious solution to a painful problem, you're 90% of the way to making the sale, and many will go ahead and order.
Download the Audio Redirector software at http://AudioRedirector.com
When you think about it, what can be simpler than discussing a problem with someone who has a proven solution? Record that discussion, and make that recording available to those who know that they need a solution. At the end of the discussion, you "helpfully" send those listeners over to where they can purchase the product.
Makes a lot of sense doesn't it?
It works, it really does :-)

How Does Affiliate Marketing Work?
Affiliate marketing is a method of promoting a web business in which an affiliate earns a commission for each visitor that takes action on the merchant's website.
An affiliate may be rewarded for each visit (pay-per click), subscriber (pay-per-lead), or customer sale (pay-per -sale). The merchant decides the value rewarded for the action.
Sites like Amazon.com have decided to run their affiliate program directly from their website. Others use a third party service like Commission Junction (cj.com) or Linkshare.com to track affiliate links and sales.
How does affiliate marketing work?
Signing up for the program
An affiliate can sign up for a merchant's program either directly on the merchant's site, if that is where they run the program, or through the third party intermediary. Most affiliate programs are free. However, due to spamming, and to insure the affiliate's site matches the merchant's, some merchants will now investigate the affiliate's site before they allow them to join their affiliate program.
It is not unusual for a merchant to decide against allowing someone into the program. They may not have enough traffic or their site may not relate to their own.
Your Affiliate ID
If the merchant accepts the affiliate, the affiliate is then given an affiliate ID or code that allows them to promote the website. This ID is found on all marketing and promotional tools offered by the merchant including banners, text links, and graphics. Some merchants allow the affiliate to customize their link by adding their own name.
Because this ID is found on all the marketing tools, an affiliate simply needs to place their banner or text link on their website or blog and then drive traffic to the site.
Earning your commission
When a visitor to the affiliate's site clicks the banner, and then completes the action required, the affiliate would then earn a commission. The best way to describe this is if the affiliate was a car salesman, and someone bought a car they would earn a commission. Online though, an affiliate can earn a commission for generating a lead or sending a visitor to the merchant's site.
The visitor must complete the action in order to receive the reward. It is important that the affiliate understands what they are being paid for.
The merchant will then give you a commission for the action completed. The commission rates vary depending on the merchant. Because there are so many affiliate programs on the web now, many merchants offer commission of 50% or higher in order to keep up with competition.
Some affiliate programs offer recurring commissions in which an affiliate would be rewarded for future sales as well. For instance, if the affiliate was part of a magazine site they would receive a commission every time their past subscribers renewed their subscription.
There are also tier programs. This works on recruiting new members into the program. When someone you referred makes a sale you earn from their commission as well.
Merchants are offering more ways for affiliates to earn such as, earning for offline sales and offering more marketing material for their affiliates.
To sum it up, affiliate marketing works by the affiliate aligning themselves between customers and merchants. When an action is completed, via the affiliate ID, the affiliate earns a commission.
